Indian meal raises £760
Fantastic night at our indian meal fundraiser. We raised a total of £760. Thanks to all who came and supported us.

The House Next Door
Those who have visited Victory Freretown school in Mombasa will recall a run down building next to the school. The owner of the building, having renovated the house, has rented it to our school. The building has four bedrooms, a large room for food preparation and washing but could also be used for meetings or storage. A small kitchen, a sitting room, and shower room with "proper" toilet facilities. Visitors from Europe might particulary appreciate the latter.
This will enable the school to provide accommodation for students when necessary, not least borders from Secondary Schools when they come back to Mombasa for the holidays. No longer will teachers and pupils have to share the same toilets. The house will provide a useful base for visiting groups as well as a meeting room or possible staff room.
St Andrew's Street collection in Worthing
On Saturday 19th November Teachers and Students of St Andrew's High School entertained shoppers in Montague Place, Worthing with music while they collected for the Charity. The total amount raised came to £239. Well done St Andrew's.
Quiz night raises £440 for feeding programme
Our popular annual quiz night has raised £440, which will be put towards the feeding programme at our school.
The cost of buying food in Kenya has risen sharply in recent months, in part due to the drought that has hit eastern African countries hard. As a result, we are now having to raise more than ever before to pay for the food that provides our children with what is normally the only main meal they have each day.

Ben's sponsored haircut!
Longstanding supporter Ben Scrivens has raised over £100 for Friends of the Mombasa Children by letting the children at our school cut and braid his curly locks!
Ben was challenged to the 'hair cut and braid' on a recent trip to the school, where he was volunteering on behalf of the charity.
Ben agreed to let the children work their magic if supporters back home would put their hands in their pockets and sponsor him to do it. He has raised over £100 so far - if you like the results and want do donate yourself, please go to http://www.justgiving.com/BensHairCut/ now!

'WELL-done' - nearly there!
Thanks to the ongoing support of St Andrew's School, Worthing, Friends of Mombasa Children have been able to dig out a well at Victory School.
Stages One and Two - the digging out of the well and concreting the surround and metal lid for safety, are now completed.
Stage Three - installing an electric pump with underground piping - will be completed as soon as electrcity is connected to the school.
Stage Four - the final stage. This is where water will be available to the school on a daily basis. We will also check the feasibility of selling water in the local area to help with the upkeep of the well and any maintenance charges.
Charity trustees Carol and Shirley have been able to witness the completion of stage two andDan will be overseeing stage three in July on his visit to the school.The well will enable fresh water to be pumped to the toilet block to improve sanitation and, in the future, it will help provide the school with fresh drinking water for the children and staff.
We are also installing electricty at the school, which will improve conditions for evening revision and otherwork at the school and will enable us to provide computers and other equipment to aide learning. The fans, lights and other elements have been installed - we're almost ready to go!
Littlehampton quiz night success
A quiz night at Littlehampton's Maltravers Club has helped local young people raise £680 towards their fundraising efforts to get to Mombasa later this summer.
More than 96 people took part in the quiz, organised by group member Mel Short. Mel and seven young people, led by charity Trustee Dan document.write("Purch");document.write("ese"); , will be supporting the work of the charity at the school from 4th - 18th July.
Dan said, "The quiz night was a great success and everyone had a good time. Every penny raised will help my group get to Kenya and share their talents and skills with the children at Victory school."
During their two weeks in Mombasa, Dan's group will be helping to renovate part of the school's grounds and help with lessons - including drama and sports.
