Riggs's Day Three

Thu 20th October - 7.38pm by Caroline Riggs

Been waiting for this day since we started planning this trip in Feb. Today was the day I came face to face with my arch nemesis the spiders of Kenya. We went to the wood carving workshops which were great until the kids started to point out the large spiders in the cobwebs in all the trees. Not happy. The size of Alfie they were.

However the day improved when we went to fort Jesus and through the old town of Mombasa. Its good to read the kids comments and hearing them talk about what theysaw, shows they really took everything in and thought about the difference between their lives and some places here.

Really looking forward to the assembly tomorrow

It sounds like you really are having an eyeopening time. Thank you so much for taking James with you and looking after him! I don't think he's scared of spiders, might be worth keeping him close!! x

'The Spiders of Kenya' vs 'Miss Riggs and the Kenya 15': spiders defeated.

Glad things are going well and that you are enjoying yourselves. Also quite amused that the CAPTCHA on this comment form is a maths question. It's a bit easy though, I think you should change it to a question from a science quiz ;-)

Take care.

Spiders the size of a large child?!! Sounds worse than the banana spiders that time by far! Well done you! x

Lovely Riggsoid! How we miss you!
Glad to hear that the spiders from Isabel's drive have told the Kenyan equivilents about your impending arrival. How kind of them to put on a party for you. How misunderstood these lovely creatures are.
Take care of yourself and have lots of fun

Are you sure theres not a spider on your bag again?

Comment by Miss Riggs

About the same as the banana spiders :-S Mum and Sally.

Chef Mike: the well is still being built but it works and it has made a very big difference. It is good to see kids popping out of lessons to get a drink now.

David: I just checked. All clear. I will check many more times I'm sure

Georgie: Absolutly our pleasure, he is doing very well. I thought I would make a huge fuss about not liking the spiders to save the kids any embarrassment, well that is my excuse :)
