Sat 22nd October - 5.44pm by Alfie Harrison

jambo,

today was rather eventful. after a quick trip to the school we had a walk through the bombalulu slum which was rather depressing then we got to the bombalulu workshop which was quite a nice suprise to see diabled people being put to use in a slum were they would not survive they made every thing there from jewery to bikes and wood carvings.the people who worked there seemed to be happy so that was good.then we went off to a crocidile farm wich had over 20,000 crocs and on of the was over 100 years old and weighed 20 time what i weigh. i also got to hold a crocidile and snake . good bye raffikis :)

Hi
Harrison holiday blog - day 1
In typical Harrison fashion all the packing for our holiday was left until the last minute so there was the usual mad scrabble to be ready on time. However, we needn't have worried as Auntie Sandra was even later than us due to a large work load. We then endured a frustrating journey in which our final destination seemed to get further away as a result of the traffic queues and the sat nav constantly delaying our final arrival time. Our cottage is very rural (like in the middle of nowhere) and was almost impossible to find. Ben managed to lose the £10 spending money that Dad gave him before we left....so 15 minutes was spent searching the car for it at our half way stop.....then just before we arrived at the cottage he remembered where it was.....in his bag where he put it for safe keeping! Ben too tired for tea and thrilled at the prospect of sleeping on a top bunk has crashed out. My only concern is that being as this is a new experience he may in his sleepy confusion in the night plunge straight off the top or even creep into bed with Auntie Sandra.
Our plans for tomorrow are vague but will probably involve exploring as we arrived at tea time and it was getting dark so we haven't had a chance to look round yet oh and definitely a swim. Then something exotic like er um spag bol for tea. I am very proud of you, you're doing well, love you and miss you lots.

Hi Alfie, no I haven't got you a prezzie yet as we only arrived last night and anyway you'd be lucky to find a shop round here. The weather is lovely and sunny although a little windy. No Dad didn't come on holiday, somebody has to go out to work and earn some money! Yes we are all enjoying the holiday. x

No dirty socks upon the floor.
No pile of washing by the door.
No wet towels in the bed.
No more wondering if the chickens are fed.
Plenty of wraps and biscuits in the tin,
All the rubbish put in the bin.
The queue for the computer is a thing of the past,
I’m enjoying the peace while it lasts.
Instead you have gone far away from me,
In order to learn all about poverty.
You will never forget these things that you see.
They will remain forever in your memory.
Although it’s odd that I have missed you,
You have made me incredibly proud of you too.

Harrison holiday blog – day 2
Despite thinking I would have a lay in I managed to wake up at 5.00am while the kids slept peacefully on. Think I may have broken my toe last night when I stubbed it very hard on the fire place. Well ok it’s probably not broken but it hurts and I don’t think that’s funny (I have no idea why Auntie Sandra couldn’t stop laughing at me hopping about the living room)! You may remember our plans for the day were to explore and go swimming. Well.......we set off for a short walk to explore the area and arrived back at the cottage three hours later. My map reading skills are decidedly lacking I feel as we walked about seven miles (5 more than intended) although we did find a lovely pub for cheesy chips and a drink.
On arriving back at the cottage we decided a swim was in order. Unfortunately this was not to be as the pool was closed for cleaning (according to the sign on the door) and has been for the rest of the day.
Charlie and Lily cooked up a storm and made fantastic spag bol with no help, followed by pancakes and loads of mess! Yummy though. Pool final openned and off we went for a swim. Brrrr, the water was not exactly warm so didn't stay in long. Back in the cottage and Charlie learned something new....never try to put logs in the fire while you are only wearing swimming trunks! He managed to catch his bare shoulder on the exceedingly hot door to the fire and now has a nasty red mark. Poor Charlie. There has been a small altercation between the kids over wether Joey has £5 or £50.....fortunately we are only talking Monopoly money here!
Well, that's about it I just need to leave you with todays competition - How many miles will we walk tomorrow?
Love you lots
